Guide to sydney hospitals
As some of you know, my partner is bipolar ( manic depressive ).
Thanks to this comdition, and the loverly side effects of some of her medication, i have been to just about every hospital in the sydney metro region.
Here is my guide: ( rating is out of 5 stars )
Northside Mental Clinic
Accom - The beds are not the best, a little uncomfortable, too short and are not comforable for snuggling with the other half. They have a nice curtain off effect for privacy, unfortunatly when the curtains are drawn they almost meet, so there is an unfortunate maze effect when trying to get from the bed to the door. The suicide watch nurses are loverly and patient, and always made me a nice cup of milo when i visited the other half.
Food - crap, they must have a new staff there cause the food is almost inedable, must be trying some new therapy on the anorexics or something.
Parking - 2 hr on street, i've gotten more than one ticket visiting the missus.
Location - Great
Rating - ***
Northside West Mental Clinic
Accom - The beds are standard hospital beds, they are big enough to snuggle and the other half and i had some nice snuggles. The private rooms have ceiling mounted TV's and ensuits. The shared rooms have private TV/Radio's, and privacy curtains. Some of the staff are excellent, but some are down right rude and unprofessional and need to learn how to deal with the mentally ill.
Food - first rate, the dinning area is loverly and the food is always good.
Parking - there is a free parking lot for the hospital :)
Location - a little out of the way but not too bad.
Rating - ****
Ryde Public
Accom - I only saw intensive care, which was understandably bare, but ok. The staff were pleasent and friendly.
Food - Average hospital food, but a nice caffeteria shop on premises.
Parking - free parking lot
Location - Convieniant, 5 minutes from anywhere by ambulance. ( and yes there were sirens )
Rating - ***
Ryde Mental
Accom - Only saw the suicide watch room, very nice bed. Nice communal TV room on ward. Staff were pleasent and helpfull. ( They let my other half come with me for a smoke in the wards garden )
Food - unknown
Parking - plenty, although the place was a maze.
Location - we had trouble finding it.

St Vincents
Accom - Standard hospital, nice and roomy. Easy to find your way around, and a loverly lobby area. Staff didn't believe my sweetie had had a stroke and thought she was faking. Took three days to give her an MRI. Took her off all medication and then refused to go near her as she was acting a little techy.
Food - Nice but a little hard to eat when only one side of your body works, good thing i was there to cut it up for her.
Parking - Crap
Location - Very central
Rating - minus *********
Ryde Rehabilitation
Accom - Cramped and dimly lit, like the staff. Gave the other half a wheel chair.......only one side of her body worked.............
Food - my girlfriends main incentive to get better was so she could go out to eat.
Parking - free carpark
Location - ok
Rating *1/2
RNS Public
Accom - Ok, a sense of roominess is achieved by having nothing besides a bed in the room. They mixed up my sweeties meal with someone named Grant??????
Food - They have a gloria jeans and a subway in the food area :)
Parking - Had to promise my first born to get out of the parking lot.
Location - near city, easy to miss though.
